Its been a long long time since I’ve updated this blog of mine. Here’s an update :D

As I’m blogging this update, outside my house, it is raining with the winds gushing from the north to the south like armies rushing for battle. Something I have not seen for the past 4 months.

In Singapore, there are only 2 seasons.

1. Sunny/Hot period – In this season, the weather gets hot and humid. Air-cons, fans, ice and anything that can counter the heat becomes an necessity to everyone. Its the season for lots of outside activities such as sports and beach parties and its my favourite season of the year.

2. Raining/Cool period – In this season, the weather gets chilling and moist. Most outdoor activities are refrained from conducting while some indoor activities would still continue and people basically would head home after work or school unless necessary. Warm dishes and Soups are favoured among people during this period. This period is also the best period for sleeping.

Up to this point, you guys may wonder. What am I trying to blog about? the weather?

Guys, I wanna talk about the rain. As I mentioned earlier this morning, it rained.

Rain. What is Rain to us? It is just water droplets falling from the sky, a natural cycle. To those who might have activities outdoors later on, it is a nuisance. To those farmers overseas that are experiencing droughts and all, its a sign of relief. To people who does different things, it hold different values.

To me, it gave me an inspiration and teaching which I wanna share with you guys.

[Sry for being religious here, it is more specific to christians as it will help them more] In the Bible (TNIV), there are lots of verses and chapters mentioning and containing the word “Rain”. Especially in the Old testament.

For example, in Genesis 7:4, “Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”, and in Exodus 9:24, “When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts.”, and also Leviticus 23:3-5, “If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.” and many more in the Old testament you will find the word, “Rain”.

Rain is associated with movement, life, cleanliness and warnings. Rain is like a double-edged sword. It helps us and harms us. It washes our dirt and can drown us if we get too complacent.

Rain, also is a form of salvation when we are dried up and thirsty from the things we are doing in our life.

As normal humans, during the journey in which we are striving to achieve what we set out to achieve, we will get tired, thirsty and hungry along that process. We will then look for stuffs to satisfy and energised ourselves so that we can carry on walking towards our goal.

However, being in the 21st century and a globalised market, we do not take noticed of how tired we are or how frail we have become during the journey as we simply do not have the time to stop and rest. Work keeps piling and piling and the stress level keeps rising non-stop. We must finish the given assignments and duties before we can have the time to take care of ourselves. For some, relationships gets constricting and problematic.

Friends, its time to take a step back and drench yourself in a rain. Drench yourself in a rain of your loved ones and friends. Be embraced with the rain of faith and God’s mighty grace that is ever present around you.

“The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.” Deuteronomy 28:12 (TNIV)

I know some of my friends might be experiencing some droughts in their personal life right now. It might be relationship, studies, work, or whatever! However, always remember that God’s magnificent rain is always present for you to quench your thirst and cleanse your soul. His rain is always there for you if you are feeling empty and dry for love and salvation.

Many at times, we got too caught up with our own stuffs and issues that we forgot to refresh ourselves with His rain. We tend to forget that his rain is full of goodness and joy and is always surrounding us whenever we are, whatever we might be doing.

Brothers, sisters. Let’s hope that you might remember his rain and would continue to indulge in his presence when you are at your driest period.

“He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.” Isaiah 30:23 (TNIV)

With this, I’d end my post. However, I might continue with a 2nd post on that if time allows. For now, just reflect upon what I’ve wrote and just relax for the day. I hope it would guide some of your guys to a path of excellence  for your day and days beyond.
